Vale Bob Bell Respected Member of ANZROC Victoria

I received the very sad news from Des Shady that Bob Bell  passed away on 12/01/2021 aged 73.

Bob's health had not been good in recent years but he put up an amazing fight despite the challenges he faced.

He will be missed by all of us who knew and worked with him.

Our condolences are extended to Joyce and family.

Below is a tribute to Bob from Des Shady

Robert G (Bob) Bell passed away yesterday (12th January), after a long battle with leukemia.

Bob spent the majority of his ANZ career involved in the Foreign Exchange markets. He joined the International Banking Division (IBD) in 1970, in Melbourne, before transferring to London in 1974 to further his FX dealing capabilities. After another period in Melbourne, Bob, Joyce and family moved to Singapore where he ran the FX operation for five years. Upon returning to Melbourne Bob was appointed Senior Manager FX where he was responsible for the FX operation in Australia reporting to me.

Bob was President of the Australian Forex Association for five years and much involved in arranging the annual worldwide ACI Congress which was held in Australia, for the first time, in 1992.

Over the past 35 years, Bob was a regular member of the annual IBD golf trip to the Murray and a past winner of the prestigious Hastie Trophy. Bob had lots of friends at ANZ. He was a truly great guy who will be sorely missed.

Tentative 2021 ANZROC Meeting schedule

After the disappointment of having to cancel so many events in 2020 the ANZROC (Vic) Committee has prepared a tentative meeting schedule for 2021. At this stage the February meeting venue has been booked and we expect to confirm the rest in February. In any event the dates are locked in so can be diarised. We expect to be able to schedule a golf event during the year and will advise details when confirmed.
We look forward to being able to get together again in 2021 but will of course be guided by the appropriate health advice at the time.
