Around 50 Members attended the February lunch with guest speaker Michael O’Brien member for Malvern in the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of Victoria and Minister for Energy and Resources, the Minister for Gaming and the Minister for Consumer Affairs in the State Government of Victoria. Michael was accompanied by Sarah Leslie his Senior Advisor on Energy. He presented an interesting discourse on his diverse portfolio with particular reference to the problems in Melbourne with late night licensed venues, the proposed reforms of the gaming industry and a good summary of the 'benefits' of the not so smart meters we are all mandated to have installed. There is no point in denying access to the meter installers as we are already paying $70 per year through our energy bills. More to follow in the newsletter.
