Gerry McPherson advised that our Honorary Member R.A.(Ron) Pitt passed away on 6/10/2019 at the age of 96 years.
From the WW11 Nominal Roll I noted that Ron enlisted in the AIF in January 1942 and was discharged in September 1942 as a gunner in 6 Field Regiment. In October 1942 he enlisted in the RAAF and at discharge in January 1946 was Flying Officer in 186 Squadron.
Gerry McPherson said that he knew Ron when his Squadron 514 and 186 Squadron were flying operations for Bomber Command over Europe. They met up again in 1960 when Gerry was working in GM’s Office in 394 Collins Street and Ron reported for his first managerial role for ANZ.
Four years ago Ron was awarded the French Legion of Honour Medal for his service to the French people in wartime.
Peter Lee advised that his father Ken Lee passed away on October 6th aged 90

A funeral service to honour the life of Kenneth James Lee will be held at St Andrew's Anglican Church, 27 St Kinnord Street, Aberfeldie on Friday 11th of October 2019 commencing at 2.00pm
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Well, not just yet but your Club will again be holding its Annual Christmas Luncheon in The Pavilion at the Victorian Arts Centre on Thursday 12th December 2019. We have already started the preparations and planning. Each year, we draw on the experiences of previous events in order to continue to improve the day. This very special lunch is an event that brings so many of our members together and for many, it is their annual “catch-up" with friends.
Registration for our Christmas function opened on 1st October this year and will close on 2nd December 2019. If you book early but find you have to cancel, refunds will be made up to the registration closing date.
Again, as in previous years, all members will be allocated a table and every effort will be made to enable friends and colleagues to sit together. This was quite a challenge last year, so we need to improve how hosting arrangements are done.
If you wish to host a table, please note the hosting guidelines below:
· We ask that the host collect payment for the event from all the members on his/her table and submit a single consolidated payment to ANZROC with a list of the members being hosted.
· Note that the layout is, as in previous years, tables of 10. Smaller hosting parties will be grouped together
· If you do not wish to host a table but would like to sit with your colleagues, please specify who you would like to have on your table, and we will endeavour to meet
your requirements.
· If you do not nominate a preference, we will allocate you to a table with comparable colleagues.
· So, ……. time to start your planning, call your colleagues, arrange your groups and we look forward to celebrating the Christmas season together.

AUTUMN GOLF DAY WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, 23rd MARCH 2020 AT THE RACV CLUB, HEALESVILLE.

Autumn Golf Day Monday, 23rd March 2020 at
RACV Healesville Country Club,
122 Healsville-Kinglake Rd, Healsville.
Our next golf day is at the RACV Country Club in Healsville. After the golf and presentations it is hoped that golfers and non-golfers will stay for dinner, and maybe stay at the Club overnight.
RACV members will be aware of the special accommodation rates that might apply on Sunday and Monday evenings. Some accommodation has been booked to allow for those who are not RACV members to stay as guests for one or two nights. At present accommodation for guests is $245 a couple, which includes breakfast.
Green fees are not payable for members or guests who are staying at the Club. For those not staying, the green fees are $40 for 18 holes.
If you’re able to join us, please send Glyn Parry-Jones an email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with the following information -
• Names of golfers and their Golf Link numbers (if they have one).
• Whether or not you would like the use of a cart ($24 per player).
• Names of non-golfers.
• Whether or not you will be staying for dinner.
• Whether you are interested in staying at the Club for one or two nights, but are not an RACV Club member. (RACV Club members who intend to stay are encouraged to make their reservations with the Club ASAP to avoid disappointment, phone 5962 4899)
On the day golfers should meet at the pro shop around 12 noon for a mini-shotgun start at 1pm. Lunch can be purchased in the cafe beside the pro shop.
Costs for green fees and carts if applicable will be payable to the pro shop and $5 ‘ball money’ will be collected for prizes.
Our golf days at Torquay have been very enjoyable and well attended with most people continuing the socialising over dinner. With the change in venue it is hoped to attract more people who prefer something a little closer to town.
