Shark Fin Inn lunch photos

We booked out the ground floor of Shark Fin Inn and had our best attendance of the year with 79 Members and partners turning up for Yum Cha lunch. Whilst it was a bit cramped the food and service was very good and there were some suggestions that we make it an annual event

New members Jenny Buck and Cathy Cartwright were present as was potential new member Jeanette Fleming. In addition to the new members attending for the first time ANZROC members not seen for some months included Clive Bayley, Irene Bettonvil, Viji Dharann, Linda Davidson, Harry Loucas, Jurgen Schnabl, Des Shady, Paul Tovey, Doug Westcott, and having our partners present made for a very pleasant afternoon.

Thanks to Joan Nathan, George Cooper and Geri Macgregor for doing all the admin work to make the lunch run so smoothly.

Respected Honorary Member Bill Walker R.I.P.

Gerry McPherson advised us that our respected  Honorary Member W.T. (Bill) Walker passed away on 25/9/2018 after a long illness aged 82 years.

Bill was a regular correspondent to our newsletter and Gerry said he worked with Bill way back in 1952 at Flinders Lane Branch. Bill was a great friend of our past ANZROC President and long-time committeeman the late Col Edwards.

The service of the celebration of life of Bill Walker will be held at The Heritage Funeral Home, 733 Boronia Road, Wantirna on Thursday October 4th 2018 at 1pm….(published in the Herald Sun on 28/9/018)

Photos from Geelong Lunch Sept 2018

We packed out the back room at Jokers with 51 members and partners attending our lunch. It was great to see a lot of attendees from the Bellarine, Surf Coast and Peninsula as well as the travellers from Melbourne who came by train and car.

Thanks to Joan Nathan who took all the bookings and organised reserved seats on the train.

The venue handled the meals very well and overall it was a very smooth operation.

It looked like everyone had a good time and enjoyed catching up with colleagues some of whom hadn't been seen for a while.

Photo of ANZ Staff in 1961 including Bob Stone R.I.P.

From John Brown - ANZROC Membership Officer

Jan and I were very sorry to hear that Bob Stone had passed away as we both worked with Bob at 351 Collins St branch in the early 1960s. This photo of branch staff, messengers, drivers and cleaners was taken around 1961. Bob is the one with the little forelock third row from the top, almost directly under the clock.
