It is again, my pleasure to present the President’s report for 2014

The year has been an eventful and pleasurable year with interesting guest speakers, suburban and country social meetings at a variety of venues, plus fellowship.

Meeting highlights for the year have been:-

Excellent guest speakers on diverse subjects,

* David Howell,- Military Historian- Kokoda, and what happened to Uncle Sam

* Dr Geoffrey John Christopherson AM KSJ – Anzac day and its place in WW1 commemorations.

* Majors Sandra and Brendan Nottle from the Salvation Army

* Graeme Simsion, author of the Australian book of the year 2014 “the Rosie Project”

* Prof. Bruce Holloway –do your genes control your behavior

* Peter Bearsley – President of the Rotary Club of Melbourne and ANZROC member

Other highlights

* Our Christmas Lunch, where we welcomed CEO ANZ Australia Philip Chronican and three other senior executives of the Bank

* Out of city meetings in Geelong, Greensborough and Mulgrave

* Our Golfing event at Rosebud in November 2013

* Annual Mansfield visit

Membership

During the past 12 months we farewelled 27 of our members, but we were also pleased to welcome 31 new members into ANZROC Victoria.

The increase in membership applications has occurred as a result of work done by our current and past secretaries in finding a way around privacy difficulties that inhibited the Bank from passing on information about retiring officers

Guest Speakers.

Another great job by Gary Mason in seeking out quality speakers, with interesting subjects.

Welfare

Joan Nathan and her team have worked quietly and effectively throughout the year, keeping in touch with the not so well, plus a new initiative of Christmas Greetings to all members who have made it to their 90’s.

Kathy Trace has continued her excellent work in getting birthday cards to all members “on the Day”

External Venues.

Neville Pearson and Noel Beanland for researching and checking out various venues to ensure quality of meals, suitable transport and venue space.

Web Page and Social Media

Thanks to Eamon and his team for the great results that have been achieved along with regular updating of material on the site.

The Back Office

George, Con, Kevin, Elaine and Wolf each have made a valuable contribution to the processes of the club. Also we thank our auditor Alan Forrest. A special thank you to John Duke and Col Edwards who are both retiring from the committee after 20 and 22 years of service respectively.

Although John Duke is retiring, he will continue to assist by keeping us updated on demise of members.

And of course the engine room of our club;-

Treasurer John, Secretary Peter, and Newsletter editor Ron

An outstanding team. Thank you.

Non Committee Member

Thank you to Hugh Bourke and his team for all the work they have put into organizing the Rosebud Golf day 2013 and also 2014 and ensuring a good day for all attending.

For me, it has been a great honour and pleasure to serve, and I thank all committee members for their contribution and for supporting me.

On my and your behalf, I invite you now to show your appreciation and thanks to the

committee for a memorable year of activity.

Incoming President's Speech - Peter Pritchard

PRESIDENTS INCOMING SPEECH November 2014

Thank you for the honour of being nominated as President. I will endeavour to serve members with all my capacity.

I would like to acknowledge the committee who have agreed to stand and I know they will contribute to the ongoing success of ANZROC Victoria. In particular I would like to welcome our new committee members. Ken Crawford (he is an apology today), Wolf Damschitz (our new secretary), Don Jeffery and Glyn Parry-Jones.

I would also like to record appreciation to a number of our committee members.

* John McPhee our retiring President, who has served for 10 years on the committee. In recognition, John has been awarded Life Membership for his contribution.

* I would also like to mention John Duke, who is retiring from the committee after 20 years of service including as President from 1999-2000.

* Finally, I would like to mention Col Edwards, who is also retiring from the committee after 22 years of service including as President from 1997-1998.

* John and Col are an apology today, but we will make a formal presentation at a meeting in early 2015.

I would like to conclude by saying that our challenge going forward is to continue to ensure that ANZROC meets the needs of our 966 Victorian members.

Our regular newsletters, birthday cards, welfare activities, guest speakers, our meetings at Queen St, suburban and country and Christmas Luncheon are all important.

However we also need to consider other opportunities outside the normal meeting schedules which may be of interest to groups of members.

I welcome feedback and suggestions. You can contact me by phone or email.

ANZROC is only as successful as the contributions and participation that we all can make. No matter how big or small your support will make a difference.

Photos from Pizzini Wine Tasting

Thanks to Carlo Pizzini and his team for organising the wine tasting at our AGM. Also thanks to Anne Wee for coming up with the idea and initiating contact with the winery. We were provided with bottles of Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese from Pizzini of King Valley which were complemented by cheese and biscuits. It was a very pleasant way of concluding the formalities of the AGM.

Members are reminded that any orders of 6 or more bottles will be free of freight.
